The Barrons Sideline:  You’ve dug the hole, now, will you jump in or over it!

By:  Charles McDevitt – October 25, 2004

The Woodbridge Football Team currently stands at 4 - 3, with a huge Game 8 coming up on November 5, 2004, at 7pm against the East Brunswick Bears away.

Two important questions will be answered in that game.

First, Is the Woodbridge Football Team really a Playoff contender, or just another .500 squad.  Reality check gentleman!  The Woodbridge Barrons haven’t defeated a winning team yet this season.  To advance in the Playoffs, the Barrons better be a contender,  because you will be facing the cream of the crop, all winning football programs.

You have shown moments of brilliance, and regrettably, moments of incompetence.  That’s not easy to say.  No one is a bigger fan and supporter of the Woodbridge Football Program than me.  I believe you are capable of taking on and defeating the East Brunswick Bears, and I fully expect that outcome.

Second, the Playoffs!  A  4 - 4 season record, may allow the Barrons to squeak into the Playoffs with under 40 Power Points.  But a 5 - 3 record will guarantee you a Playoff appearance with a possible 5 / 6 seeding.  You are in control of your own destiny.  Win and your in!

There is an old saying, “Just get in and everything will work out in the Playoffs”.  Just getting there, isn’t what Coach Russo has in mind for the Barrons in the Playoffs.  He expects them to compete to their utmost potential.  He expects that to begin in East Brunswick.  Nothing short of 100% concentration, game preparation, intensity, desire, and heart will satisfy him for the remainder of the season.

The hole has been dug, now, will you jump in or over it!
