Garrett Mozolic Reaches Milestone!

By:  Charles McDevitt  -  October 17, 2005

Coming into the October 15th game against Old Bridge, Garrett Mozolic needed only 32 yards rushing to reach the 1000 yards rushing milestone.  On his last carry of the day, Garrett took the ball for a 3 yard ride and registered that 1000th yard.  Although attaining the mark was nice, Mozolic wasn’t very excited about it.  His team had lost for the 5th time this year, 30-13.  He is a team player, and he wasn’t about to smile, when the team failed on this day.

Garrett had 4 carries in his freshman year for 32 yards, 148 carries for 703 yards his sophomore, and so far, 94 carries for 265 yards this season, his junior year.

I fully expect Mozolic to give Woodbridge HS Football’s rushing record holder, Keith Zalasar a run for his money.  Zalasar registered 2227 rushing yards on 350 carries during his 3 varsity seasons (2001 – 235 yards, 02 – 498 yards, and 03 – 1494 yards).  Garrett potentially has 14 HS games remaining in his career and need 1227 yards in those contests (88 YPG).  When the smoke clears in December of 2006, we shall see if Mozolic is able to unseat Zalasar as the rushing leader.

Garrett is a level headed young man with a strong work ethic and a will to win second to none.  Woodbridge Football is lucky to have him.  When you spot him, congratulate him on his accomplishment!  For me, I’m looking forward to watching him in the next 14 games and enjoying each and every carry!
